Social Narratives (in English & Spanish) explain the sequence of events that take place when one travels by air. The Wallet Card is a free tool to be used by a teenager or an adult with autism spectrum disorder for self-disclosure. The Card helps individuals communicate clearly with law enforcement and includes information such as the person’s name, disability, emergency contact, and any specific triggers. Order a card at www.justdigit.org On the website, there is a video that explains how to use the Wallet Card and when to use the Wallet Card. The video also provides tips on how to safely interact with law enforcement and first responders. The Wallet Card is a project of The Disability Independence Group, Inc. that was designed in collaboration with The Coral Gables Police Department (CGPD) and the University of Miami-Nova Southeastern University Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (UM-NSU CARD). Dr. Adreon was the autism consultant for this project.
